How to keep the sunroof and panoramic sunroof in good condition
Preparation
- park on even surface
- it's easier to work with a clean car
Parts
- isopropyl alcohol
- rubber seal paste
- tracks grease
- water
Tools
- paint brush for rails
- small brush with a long extension cord for drains
- clean cloth
Procedure
Visual inspection
- Open the sunroof all the way
- Check for any leaks on the roofliner, pillar covers, footwells, etc.
- Check for any damage in the sunroof mechanism, wind deflector
Sunroof seal
- Clean the rubber seal all the way around the edge with isopropyl alcohol. Do the same to the contact surface on cars body.
- Apply rubber seal paste on the seal.
Sunroof tracks
- Use cloth to remove dirt and mud that's mixed with old grease
- Use isopropyl alcohol to wipe it clean
- Use paint brush to apply new grease on the tracks
- Open and close the sunroof couple times to make sure that the grease is evenly spread on the tracks
Water drains
- Pour small amount of water in each corner of the roof to check if drains are not clogged
- Use the drain brush to clean the drains from inside. Don't use excessive force or ou will puncture the drain tubes or disconnect them
Sunroof adjustment
If you are experiencing wind noises from the closed sunroof, you can try to adjust the closed position.
- Open the sunroof
- At the back side, under the glass, you will find bolts that hold position the glass.
- Make those bolts loose just enough for the glass to be moved up and down
- Adjust the height of the glass and tighten the bolts
Comfort opening and pinch-protection calibration
- Turn the ignition on
- Press and hold the sunroof closing button.
- After about 30 seconds the sunroof will start to perform adaptation procedure. It will open and close all the way.
- Observe the process and keep holding the button until it's done.
