Power boot retrofit

I'm wondering if it's possible to retrofit power boot into Audi A3 8V sedan? Just like in other VAG sedans - Audi A8 or A6 or A4 or VW Passat? And since Passat is also made on MQB platform, I'm going to assume that it will work in A3 with a help of Audi Q2 or Q3 parts. Hope that I'm right...

Retrofitting in limousine/sedan body it should be simpler than in hatchback or sportback, since there are no struts. Will it be enough to replace the boot balancing spring with servo motor, replace the trunk lock with soft-close one, add the module, add wiring, closing button, perform coding, basic settings...?

Ok. Actually it's a lot. But it should be possible!

Servo

There's couple version of the Stabilus Powerise servo motor that operates boot in VAG sedans:

• 3G5-827-851 from VW Passat B8
• 4G5-827-851-B from Audi A6 C7
• 4K5-827-851-C from Audi A6 C8
• 4N0-827-851-A from Audi A8 D5

The cheapest would be the best. I don't need much torque in Audi A3 8V - my trunk door should be lighter than the one in Passat.

But it looks like there's an even cheaper option:

• 4G8-827-852-B from Audi A7 C7
• 4G8-827-851-B from Audi A7 C7

Not sure how exactly this mechanism works but it's the cheapest one there. It might be worth getting one just to try if it can operate in Audi A3 8V.

Trunk module

Lid lock or striker plate with closing aid

One of the elements - lock or striker plate - need to have closing aid to make sure that the lid is closed completely.

I believe that the striker plate from Audi A6/A7/A8 is the cheapest option but I'm not sure if it can fit under the boot plastic trim.

• Make sure that the trunk door is closed.
• Module 0x6D → Basic Settings → Rear lid basic settings
• Open the trunk door from the remote button or from the button in drivers door.
• Press the closing button on the trunk door.
